Research
According to the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization and the World Health Organization, probiotics are defined as "live microorganisms, which, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host." Commonly referred to as "good-for-you-bacteria," they are active in our intestines, and exert clinically proven health benefits when present in sufficient amounts. They have traditionally been thought to be useful in the treatment of various gastrointestinal diseases and are already the most well-known and successful functional ingredient in the food industry.
